There is a large area of woodland in the heritage grounds, and this survey has attempted to both create a tree species map of the wooded areas, and perform a more specialised analysis on chosen areas.
These areas, called quadrats are defined in more detail below.
The aim of this project is to perform the quadrat analysis on a yearly basis, which will hopefully show how the woodland changes - the natural growth of existing trees, and the appearance of new plants and species.
The quadrat analysis will be performed within the Science curriculum for Priestlands Secondary pupils.
