Priestlands Physical Education Heritage Project 2003

Update and Planning.

Is your department still on target to complete the pilot project?

· We are going to be using some posts for X - Country training but it is not possible to access all areas of the site due to the Lakes project.
· As soon as it is open we are planning to use the area as orienteering and a fitness trail.
· These are currently being incorporated in S.O.W's (Schemes of Work) and will be developed as we gain facilities in the phase 3 of the new Recreation centre build.

Evidence for the future.
· 2004 /5 Curriculum planning is being settled at the moment and the heritage trail will provide a big part of the fitness unit and the weight training unit. This is very dependant on the Phase 3 being completed by July 2004.

Review of project.
· The process is dependant on the Lakes project Health and Safety issues.
· We are planning for full use during 2004 / 5
· The X - country team will be training around it in the next few weeks.
· It is planned to take some photos of this.
· The S.O.W's will use the elements of fitness and warming up for weight training in KS4.
· I am planning on writing fitness cards for each post a.s.a.p.

The Archive
· Methods being looked into are:- Photo's of pupils using the facilities, ICT work on recording fitness levels etc.

Photo's for web site.
· Photo's to be taken and passed on to Ian a.s.a.p. These will be a bit false as we cannot use the whole course.

Impact on T & L
· None yet but the site is not accessible due to Health and Safety issues.
· The planning for 2004 / 5 will use the trail as part of KS4 fitness.
