Priestlands Physical Education Heritage Project 2003

Aims of Project:

· To provide a physical education facility that enhances the quality of the programmes of study through the P.E curriculum
· To use the Heritage site on Priestlands campus for physical education activities
· To develop the health and fitness of pupils at Priestlands by providing alternative facilities and opportunities.


Objectives:

· To provide a course marked out on the woodlands paths that will be used to promote health and fitness.
· To provide opportunity for pupils to visit and use the heritage site purposefully and respectfully.


Tasks:

· To purchase and make 6 wooden posts that will be used for fitness training and orienteering
· To dig holes and erect poles at strategic points on the course
· To mark posts with symbols that provide orienteering opportunities
· To purchase and erect a laminated board that will be used as a control station for information about the fitness / orienteering

Phase 1.

· The course will be completed with posts purchased, painted and erected along the woodland paths by July 2003
· The notice board has been purchased and erected. The information will be posted on the board once the area is clear and accessible. The information will be available for teaching staff and pupils with necessary details, maps, results, records etc by Sept 2003

Phase 2.

· Orienteering equipment including compasses will be purchased to provide a more sophisticated programme of study that will meet the needs of the Key Stage 4 students.
· To be completed by Nov 2003
