Evaluation
Now that the fieldwork has been carried out, the project has been evaluated. The following points are the main improvements that we would like to make:
More curriculum time needs to be given to all aspects of the project, from demonstrating how to use the equipment through to more time ‘in the field’ carrying out the tests
Data collection at both sites (the open grassland and woodland areas) should be carried out on the same day to ensure that comparisons are based upon fair tests
This project can easily be turned into a pupil-led enquiry, where they decide upon which ecosystem differences they think would be appropriate to explore and then decide how to carry this out. This would ensure that the fieldwork project is ‘good geography’!
